Overview

Allan B. Cooper is a Partner in the Litigation Department.

His practice focuses on business and commercial litigation, including:

  • Appellate
  • Breach of fiduciary relationships
  • Business torts, contracts, trade secrets and competitive business practices
  • Insurance litigation, including professional liability and legal malpractice, bad faith, and coverage
  • Land use, zoning, and environmental disputes
  • Real estate litigation, including representing financial institutions, developers, title insurers, mortgage bankers and others in matters involving:
    • Brokerage
    • Commercial landlord-tenant problems
    • Construction and mechanics’ liens
    • Lenders’ liability
    • Lis pendens expungement
    • Real property security instruments
    • Specific performance
    • PMI and mortgage guaranty insurance
    • Title problems

Allan has had numerous published appellate decisions and is the author of Beware: Anti-Growthers Snag Building Permits First, California Builder, 1987; Lis Pendens Expungement Practice: Still Not Much Relief for the Property Owner, Beverly Hills Bar Journal, 1980; and The Prosecutor’s Role in California Sentencing: Advocate or Informant?, UCLA Law Review, 1973.

Allan served as a consultant for the California Continuing Education of the Bar in 1992 on their publication Handling a Real Property Foreclosure. He is a contributing author of Use and Abuse of Interrogatories, California Continuing Education of the Bar, 1983, 1986.

He is a former clinical lecturer in law at the University of Southern California and currently teaches business law at California State University Northridge.
