Overview
James specializes in receiverships, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights matters. He has extensive experience representing receivers appointed in both federal and state courts. He has represented receivers appointed at the behest of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Trade Commission, and California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, along with various private parties to litigation. Among other things, James has served as counsel to receivers appointed to oversee the administration and wind-down of entities used to perpetrate Ponzi schemes and other frauds and has extensive experience litigating voidable transfer actions in both state and federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
James’s bankruptcy experience includes representing individual and corporate creditors, debtors, and transferees in bankruptcy proceedings under Chapters 7 and 11 (including Subchapter V) of the Bankruptcy Code.
