Internal Investigations In A (Semi) Virtual World
Over 50% of the American workforce now works from home at least part-time. Unfortunately, telework has not eliminated claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
Regardless of where an employee works, California employers are required to have personnel trained in the art of conducting an internal investigation. Specifically, the Fair Employment and Housing Act regulations require that all California employers with five or more employees address allegations of misconduct through fair, timely, and thorough investigations, and that the investigations be conducted by qualified personnel trained in the proper conducting of an investigation.
